Welcome to Sispay, a fintech application that helps users send money bank-to-bank, buy airtime (recharge cards), and pay utility bills in Nigeria. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Sispay mobile app and related services.

1. Who We Are

Sispay ("we", "our", or "us") is a financial technology platform operating in partnership with Safehaven Microfinance Bank and Sudo Microfinance Bank. These partners support account services, KYC verification, and transaction processing on our behalf.

2. Information We Collect

To provide our services and comply with law, we may collect the following categories of information:

Personal Information
Full name, date of birth, phone number, email address, home address, BVN, NIN, and government-issued IDs (e.g., passport, driver's license).
Financial Information
Bank account details, transaction history (transfers, airtime, bill payments), linked wallets and payment methods.
Device & Usage Information
Device identifiers (IMEI, device ID, advertising ID), IP address and approximate location (for fraud prevention), app usage logs, and crash reports. This application uses the device camera solely for in-app features such as scanning or image capture. Images are not stored or shared without user consent. No personal data is sold or shared with third parties.
Other Information
Customer support messages, referrals, and promotional data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for legitimate business and regulatory purposes, including:

  • Account creation and management.
  • KYC identity verification via Safehaven Microfinance Bank (BVN/NIN).
  • Facilitating transactions through Safehaven Microfinance Bank.
  • Detecting and preventing fraud and abuse.
  • Customer support and dispute resolution.
  • Sending service notifications and alerts.
  • Improving product and app performance.
  • Complying with legal and regulatory obligations (e.g., CBN/NDPA requirements).

4. How We Share Your Information

We share personal data only with trusted partners and where required by law:

5. Data Retention

We retain personal and financial information as necessary to provide services, meet regulatory obligations (including AML/CBN rules), and to resolve disputes. After required retention periods expire, we securely delete or anonymize your data.

6. Data Security

We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data, including:

  • Encrypted transmission (HTTPS) and encrypted storage of sensitive data.
  • Access controls and role-based permissions for staff.
  • Monitoring and incident response procedures.

While we take strong measures to secure data, no system is completely risk-free. Please protect your login credentials and PINs.

7. Data Deletion & Account Removal

You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time. To request deletion:

  1. Open the Sispay app → Profile → Settings → Delete Account, or
  2. Email privacy@sispay.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request".

What happens next:

  • We will verify your identity for security purposes.
  • We will process your request and aim to complete it within 7–14 business days.
  • Certain records (for example, transaction logs) may be retained where required by law (e.g., CBN/AML rules).
  • After deletion, we will send you a confirmation email.

8. Your Rights

You have rights that may include access, correction, and deletion of your personal data (subject to legal limits). You may also withdraw consent for non-essential processing. If you believe your rights were violated, you may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

9. Third-Party Services

Certain services (KYC and transaction processing) are provided by third parties:

  • Safehaven Microfinance Bank — Transaction processing and wallet services.

10. Children’s Privacy

Sispay is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided personal data, contact us immediately and we will remove the data.

11. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will publish the revised policy in the app and on our website and update the "Last updated" date at the top of the document.
